Genealogy Merit Badge Prerequisites for New requirements.
Below are the prerequisites that are required to
be completed prior to Jamboree. In order to complete Genealogy merit
badge at Jamboree, a note confirming completion of these
requirements below from your Scoutmaster or a parent in order to
consider these requirements complete. Please note each prerequisite and
have what is required with you at Jamboree for completion of blue card.

Do ONE of the
following:
Create a time
line for yourself or for a relative. Then write a
short biography based on that time line.
Keep a journal
for six weeks. You must write in it at least once a
week.
Note: Copies of journal should be brought to Jamboree to
avoid the original being lost.
With your parent’s
help, choose a relative or a family acquaintance you can
interview in person, by telephone, or by e-mail or
letter. Record the information.
Note : This should be brought with you in paper form or
a note that this was accomplished by your parent or
Scoutmaster. No tapes should be brought to
Jamboree.
Obtain at least
one genealogical document that supports an event
that is or can be recorded on your pedigree chart or
family group record. The document could be found at
home or at a government office, religious
organization, archive or library.
Note: This should not be any
original document. No Originals should be brought to
Jamboree. All documents should be copies.
